Vets

John Grieve BVM&S MRCVS

John first came to Cambridge in October 1971. In the early days the practice was predominantly "large animal" (cattle, sheep, pigs and some horses). But farm animal numbers in the Cambridge area have decreased dramatically - as has the human population increased - so that the 1980s saw a huge swing from large animal to "small animal" work.

The completion of our new Clinic building in 1979 marked the increased emphasis on small animal work. We now are a 99% small animal practice. In 1985 John spent several months at the University of Florida - at the time one of the top handful of veterinary schools in the USA - concentrating on dermatology and internal medicine.

During the 1980s and 1990s John started and spearheaded the Vetstream project - tackling the major problem of vets in obtaining all the (reliable) information they need at the moment they need it - which now is an established electronic publishing business servicing 40% of UK veterinary practices and with subscribers in over 60 countries world-wide.

Jill Pearson MA VetMB MRCVS

Jill has loyally notched up over twenty years with us. Her wide reputation, both regionally and nationally, as an authority on reptiles, birds and "small furries" leads to her dealing with an increasing number of them. She has both broadcast and lectured regularly.
Jill also has a particular interest in animal behaviour and is enrolled as a part-time, external student of the University of Southampton in studies leading to a Masters degree in Companion Animal Behaviour Therapy. A born teacher, Jill continues to instruct both student vets and student veterinary nurses.

Marion Ford MA VetMB MRCVS

It's ten years since Marion joined us - how time flies! A mother of two young children, she is an enthusiastic and accomplished surgeon and currently is enrolled for a postgraduate qualification in surgery which she can do from general practice.

Claudia Hartley BVSc MRCVS

Claudia has been with us for over a year although she knows us from long ago, when as a 6th form student she helped out in our Inpatient Area in order to gain work experience. She qualified from Bristol University in 1995 and has a particular interest in ophthalmology, for which she is studying for a postgraduate qualification. Full of fun and enthusiasm, she adds much to the good atmosphere of our practice.
